About Us
More than builders....
At Build It, we’re more than just builders—we’re a family-owned business dedicated to quality craftsmanship and strong community values. Based in Kaitaia, we’ve been serving homeowners and businesses across the region since 2018, delivering construction and building services with skill and integrity.

With over 25 years of industry experience, our licensed team is committed to providing high-quality, affordable building solutions. We work closely with our clients, ensuring every project—whether a custom home, kitchen renovation, deck, or driveway —meets their vision and budget.

We also believe in building for the future, investing in the next generation of tradespeople by mentoring and training local apprentices. By combining experience with a friendly, approachable service, we make the building process seamless and stress-free.
A business built on trust
At Build It, we are committed to delivering high-quality workmanship while maintaining the highest industry standards. Our accreditations and memberships with leading industry bodies ensure that every project we undertake meets New Zealand’s strict building regulations, safety requirements, and best practices.

NZ Certified Builders (NZCB)
As a registered NZ Certified Builder, we are part of an elite group of highly skilled professionals who meet strict trade qualification and workmanship standards. This also allows us to offer the Halo 10-Year Residential Guarantee, providing long-term protection and peace of mind for our clients on their new builds.

Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP)
Our team consists of Licensed Building Practitioners, meaning we have been independently assessed and approved by the New Zealand government to carry out restricted building work. This ensures your home is built or renovated by qualified, experienced professionals who adhere to strict regulations and best practices.

Sitewise GOLD Verification
We take workplace health and safety seriously, which is why we hold a SiteWise Gold Certification. This accreditation is awarded to businesses that meet excellent health and safety compliance standards, ensuring our work environment is safe for our team, clients, and contractors at all times.

HazardCo Member
As a HazardCo Member, we use smart digital tools to manage health and safety efficiently on all our worksites. HazardCo helps complete streamline risk assessments, and ensure compliance, so our team can focus on delivering high-quality craftsmanship in a safe environment.

Meet Phill & Emma – The couple behind Build It
Phill and Emma are the husband-and-wife team at the heart of Build It Northland. Together, they have built a trusted, family-owned business, delivering high-quality homes, renovations, and construction projects across Northland.

Phill, a born-and-bred Far North local, has been in the building industry for over 25 years. After gaining his National Certificate in Carpentry in 2003, he worked across the region before starting Build It Northland in 2018. As a Licensed Building Practitioner and NZ Certified Builder, he takes pride in delivering top-quality craftsmanship and reliable service to every project.

Emma is the backbone of the business, running the day-to-day operations and office work behind the scenes. She keeps everything organised, ensuring the team stays on track and that every project runs smoothly.
With a shared passion for building and a commitment to quality, community, and customer satisfaction, Phill and Emma continue to grow Build It as a name Northlanders can trust.
Hardworking, Passionate, and Proudly Local
At Build It, we’re a tight-knit team that takes pride in our work while keeping things friendly and down-to-earth. With a mix of qualified builders, apprentices, and support staff, we work together to deliver top-quality craftsmanship and a seamless building experience.

We believe in supporting each other on and off the tools, mentoring apprentices and ensuring we all get the downtime we deserve. Living in the Far North means we make the most of the region’s fishing, beaches, and outdoor adventures—because balancing hard work with good times keeps us at our best.

At the end of the day, we love what we do, and it shows in every project we take on.
